The Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces is housed in Maribor's historic Cadet School on Engelsova Street. Built in 1856 for military education, the building still serves that purpose today. Founded in 2004, the museum explores military history in Slovenian lands, the lives of soldiers and the development of Slovenia's armed forces. Its collections connect major events with equipment, documents and personal experiences.
Permanent exhibitions include Dreams Fulfilled: The Road to the Slovenian State and Its Army and Firearms Through Time. One explores the establishment of the Slovenian state and its armed forces; the other traces the evolution of firearms. The museum also preserves uniforms, decorations, photographs, maps and other military heritage.
A distinctive feature is its outdoor display depots of artillery and armoured vehicles, presenting larger examples of military technology. Lectures, thematic events and historical research complement the exhibitions. Guided visits connect the exhibits with the people and periods that shaped Slovenia's past.
