The Poštela Archaeological Site lies on a south-eastern ridge of Pohorje, above Razvanje and near Habakuk. This strategic hilltop overlooking the Drava and Ptuj plains was once home to a fortified prehistoric settlement. It flourished during the Early Iron Age, between the 8th and 6th centuries BC. Earth ramparts, several metres high in places, still mark the boundaries of the former settlement.
Excavations have uncovered foundations of 14 buildings and remains of a sanctuary, along with pottery, jewellery, weapons, tools and weaving equipment. These finds offer evidence of daily life, crafts and wider trade connections. Below the hillfort lie burial mound sites at Habakuk, Razvanje and near Pivola, some of which remain visible in the landscape.
Poštela was also inhabited at intervals during the later Iron Age, Roman period and Early Middle Ages. Today, the wooded site is distinguished by surviving defensive earthworks and traces of settlement. It connects the archaeology of the Maribor region with the natural landscape of Pohorje.
