Splavarski Passage is a historic pedestrian route in central Maribor, linking the Main Square and Koroška Street area with Lent on the Drava River. Running between old town buildings, it leads downhill towards the former river port. Its setting recalls a time when short passages connected the town market with riverside trade and everyday work.
The name preserves the history of rafting on the Drava. The lane was recorded as Trinkh Gasse in 1473 and as Flösser Gässl in 1822. It became Splavarska ulica in 1919 and received its present name, Splavarski prehod, in 1938. Rafts transported goods including wine, iron products and textiles, before this form of river transport ended in 1941.
The passage was renovated as part of improvements to Maribor’s old town, including work on steps and planting. Today it belongs to a network of short pedestrian connections between Koroška Street, Main Square and Lent. Together with the Mesarski, Minoritski and Žički passages, it preserves the historic pattern of routes towards the Drava.
