Three cloud-shaped seats combine wood and recycled metal, symbolising connection among young people.

The Dating Bench stands among the student residences on Gosposvetska Road in Maribor. Sculptor Robert Jurak created it in 2015 as the third artistic bench in the Stories of Benches and People project. Made from wood and recycled metal from a demolished bridge, the work takes the shape of three connected clouds, offering a place to sit, meet and daydream.

The central cloud features a metal backrest with interwoven elements representing the connection of thoughts, ideas and emotions. Its design reflects relationships and encounters among young people living in the nearby student residences. More than a place for dates, the bench expresses solidarity and a sense of belonging.

Jurak also intended the work to represent the hope that young people can build a fairer society together. Part of Maribor's collection of unique artistic benches, it brings sculpture and functional design into everyday surroundings. Here, a work of art also becomes a place for conversation and shared moments.
