A metal-and-glass bench near Leon Štukelj Square explores the values of truth and freedom.

(K)resnica svobode (Truth and Freedom) stands on Ulica slovenske osamosvojitve, beside Leon Štukelj Square in central Maribor. Created by artist Vojko Pogačar, it is the eighth art bench in the Stories of Benches and People project. Made from metal and glass, it was unveiled on 13 October 2016. The contemporary artwork occupies a public space associated with the city's media and civic life.

The bench is dedicated to the ideals of truth and freedom. Its location was deliberate: until the end of 2023, the adjoining building housed the offices of the newspaper Večer. Through the artwork, Pogačar sought to emphasise transparency, credibility and public trust in journalism.

Pogačar also works in industrial and product design. In 2016, the University of Maribor awarded him an honorary doctorate for his contribution to the development of its engineering product design programme. The bench forms part of Maribor's collection of unique art benches, connecting functional design with questions of public responsibility.
