Tkalka Gallery, located on Tkalski Passage in central Maribor, is a contemporary art space that has supported emerging artists since 2023. Founded by Tina Gerlec, it brings together exhibitions, artistic research, curatorial practice and critical writing.
The gallery presents solo and group exhibitions, experimental artistic practices and projects with Slovenian and international artists. Its Tkalka programme supports artists at the beginning of their careers, while the long-term TkalkaUnfolded initiative brings artists, curators and critics together to investigate contemporary art. The Young Critic mentorship programme also supports a new generation of art writers.
Tkalka initiated Maribor Art Walk, an annual event connecting galleries, museums and artists' studios throughout the city. Through international exhibition exchanges and participation in art fairs, the gallery also creates opportunities for emerging artists to engage with the wider art scene.
