A historic avenue towards Kamnica passes three striking sculptures on the nearby grassy plateau.

Kamnica Avenue and the Three Angels are located along Vrbanska cesta on the northwestern edge of Maribor, below the vineyard slopes of Kalvarija Hill. The avenue dates back to 1895 and is lined with mature horse chestnut trees. A shaded walking and cycling path runs towards Kamnica, making the avenue part of the city's everyday green network.

On the adjacent Vrbanska plateau, three approximately three-metre-high busts stand in an open grassy area. Known as the Three Angels, they were created by sculptor Lučka Koščak and installed in 2004 as part of Maribor's 750th anniversary celebrations. Made of cement, each figure has a differently shaped head. Originally painted green, yellow and pink, their colours have faded with exposure to the weather.

The avenue brings together historic greenery and contemporary public art in one walk. Nearby are the well-known steps up Kalvarija Hill and Račji dvor, a historic manor beside Vrbanska cesta. This corner of Maribor combines a familiar route out of the city with distinctive sculpture and traces of its past.
