Cable car on Mariborsko Pohorje is a ride on the Pohorska vzpenjača cable car, whose lower station lies approximately five kilometres from Maribor’s old town. It connects the city with Pohorje’s forests and starting points for hiking and other outdoor activities. The ride also suits a family outing.
Working hours
Daily: 07:00–21:00, departures on the hour
There is no departure at 08:00 on Mondays due to routine maintenance.
October 2026:
The cable car is closed for maintenance on 12–14 and 19–23 October.
Continuous operation from 10:00 to 17:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and from 26 to 29 October.

Pohorje, nature close to the city
The Pohorska vzpenjača cable car connects the outskirts of Maribor with the forests of Mariborsko Pohorje. Its lower station lies approximately five kilometres from the old town, providing access to starting points for exploring Pohorje’s natural surroundings.
The wider Pohorje area features forests, the Šumik primeval forest, waterfalls and peat bogs with lakes. Reaching individual natural attractions requires further travel from the cable car.
