A brewing past in a city of wine

Although vineyards and the World’s Oldest Grapevine on Lent are closely associated with Maribor, the city also had a developed brewing industry. Beer was brewed in the city centre as early as the first half of the 18th century.

The walk explores how improved transport links and a growing number of visitors influenced demand for beer, particularly in summer. Stories of the city’s brewers also reveal their social standing: one became mayor. The provider lists Vid Kmetič as the guide for this walk.

Participation

The programme is intended for groups of 10–40 people.
