A Prlekija homestead and its stories
The homestead connects family history, handcrafted details and self-sufficiency. Williams pears and local dishes such as tünka-preserved meat, lük onions, sour soup, pork belly and Prlekija gibanica form part of its culinary story.
Day 1
• Welcome by host Bojan in the štübel parlour, with a snack and a tasting of homemade Williams pear spirit and pear juice.
• Guided tour of the farm, herb garden, field and Williams pear orchard, introducing local self-sufficiency.
• Visit to grandfather Firbas’s wheelwright’s workshop, preserved as a museum. Family stories are complemented by the homestead’s hand-hewn details.
• Tour of the glamping area with a pool and handmade tubs, followed by preparing the fire for evening bathing.
• Three-course home-cooked dinner: seasonal soup, a traditional main course and Prlekija gibanica. Ingredients come from the farm, garden, orchard and barn.
• Night-time bathing in an outdoor wooden barrel heated by a fire.
• A night in a wooden hayloft above the barn, in a hay-and-straw bed with insect protection.
Day 2
• Feeding the farm animals and collecting fresh eggs.
• Firbas breakfast with farm produce, prepared in front of guests.
• The option of a wooden wagon ride with a 1955 Steyr tractor and sports activities on the farm.
• Included two-hour e-bike hire for exploring the surroundings.
• Time on the terrace, in the Williams pear orchard or by the pool.
• The option of purchasing products, produce and souvenirs in the štübel shop.
