At the CDUO ceramics studio in the outbuilding of Slovenska Bistrica Castle, participants learn about local clay and pottery heritage. With a mentor, they shape and decorate a vessel by hand and try the potter’s wheel. A contemporary ceramics exhibition and products carrying the Naše najboljše label complete the programme.

From clay to a finished shape
The Mineralček mascot introduces clay as a local natural material and the heritage of pottery. Participants use the pinch-pot technique to shape a vessel by hand before refining and decorating it.
A demonstration of traditional wheel throwing follows. With a mentor’s help, participants centre their clay and shape their first wheel-thrown piece.
Finishing the pieces and visiting the exhibition
After learning about drying, firing and glazing, participants agree how their pieces will be finished. Glazing and delivery are additional options.
The programme includes a visit to the contemporary ceramics exhibition and an introduction to products certified under the Naše najboljše label.
At the end, participants are served a dessert or a selected drink in a ceramic vessel, which they take home as a souvenir.
