Painting workshops with Tjaša Tia Cusch
The programme explores visual art, sculpture and painting techniques using different materials. Children’s workshops are for ages 8–15, with up to six children. Clothing suitable for art activities is required.
Options include:
floral postcards in watercolour;
colour mixing and acrylic painting on canvas, with sea, sunset or floral motifs;
painting wooden beehive panels;
drawing selected Maribor landmarks on prepared cards or Drava stones.
Painting groups accommodate up to six people.
Flower embroidery with Nina Logar – Ninarozina
Participants choose a floral motif and learn simple embroidery techniques to decorate clothing or make a patch covering a hole or stain. No sewing or embroidery experience is required.
Materials are provided, or participants may bring their own textile item. Written instructions are taken home. Children aged eight and above may work independently; younger children attend with a parent. Groups accommodate up to ten people.
Drava stone jewellery
Each participant makes a necklace or earrings, using prepared drilled stones with leather cord or earring hooks.
Candles and beehive panels – Razvoj Maribora
Each participant makes two beeswax candles: one cast in a mould and another rolled from a wax foundation sheet.
The panel-painting workshop offers one larger or two smaller wooden panels, decorated using pyrography or paint.
Cold-process soap – Apilavandula estate
The workshop explains ingredients, fat selection, the saponification factor, lye preparation and soap curing. As sodium hydroxide is used, the instructor demonstrates production. Participants select additives, herbs, natural colourants and moulds.
Organic true lavender essential oil and organic lavender hydrosol from Slovenske gorice are used. The offer includes written instructions, one freshly made and one cured soap, and a voucher for a 5% discount on products at the centre. Groups accommodate up to five people.
Screen printing and weaving with Nina Holc
Screen-printing participants select patterns, colours and composition. They bring one or two washed T-shirts or another light-coloured textile item, such as a cushion cover or apron. White fabric with predominantly natural fibres, including cotton or viscose, is recommended.
For weaving, participants make cardboard looms and combine strips and yarn in different colours and textures. Fringes, pompoms, feathers or beads may be added. Difficulty is adapted to age. Both workshops are recommended from age seven and are also suitable for adults.
