Trees as part of the city’s heritage
The tour presents trees recognised as exceptional within the Municipality of Maribor for their botanical, historical, aesthetic or documentary significance. Their characteristics and stories reveal connections between nature, people and the development of the city.
Many of the featured trees are protected as natural heritage. The interpretation explores their importance to the city’s parks and the reasons for preserving them.
The guidebook and audiobook
The tour draws on the publication Guide to Exceptional Trees. An accompanying audiobook provides further interpretation of the trees and their significance for Maribor.
