The Maribor Wine Route winds past vineyards, orchards and local winegrowers.

Vodole is a hilly village on the outskirts of Maribor, above the Drava Valley, where steep vineyards, orchards and meadows shape the landscape. Views open up between scattered farms, while country lanes reveal the winegrowing character of the Slovenske gorice hills. The village lies on the Maribor Wine Route, which links rural communities and winemakers near the city.

Winegrowing remains an important part of local life. Along the route, family-run vineyards offer wines and regional food rooted in the area's farming traditions. One local stop is the Vodole Wine Fountain at the Sončni Raj Estate, featuring wines from several producers in one place. The estate also has herb plantings, an apiary and a permaculture garden.

Vodole is best understood as a working vineyard landscape rather than a single viewpoint. Vines alternate with small valleys and streams, and local farms add another dimension to the surrounding countryside. Its proximity to Maribor makes it possible to combine time in the city with a visit to the region's winegrowing hills.
