A hillside bog on Pohorje features a wooden walkway, dwarf pines and six smaller pools.

Lake Ribniško jezero lies on the eastern slope of Ribniški vrh in the Pohorje Mountains, around 1,490 metres above sea level. It is surrounded by a raised peat bog that has developed over thousands of years and is fed mainly by rainwater. Besides the main lake, there are six smaller bog pools with peat beneath their waters. As the bog extends across a sloping hillside, it is also known as a hanging bog.

A fragile wetland landscape spreads among dwarf pines, peat mosses and spruce forest. A wooden walkway along the lake provides views of the water and bog vegetation while protecting the sensitive peat surface from trampling. The lake is part of the ecologically important Pohorje area within the Natura 2000 network.

A marked hiking route leads from Ribniška koča mountain hut to the lake in approximately 25 minutes each way. The trail crosses Pohorje's open highland grasslands, and the lake can also be included in longer walks along the mountain ridge. Its appeal lies in the unusual peat bog ecosystem and the changing scenery of open slopes and spruce woodland.
