Piramida Hill rises 386 metres above sea level, north of Maribor's city centre. It combines panoramic views, vineyards and the origins of the city's history. In the 12th century, Marchburch Castle stood on its summit, giving its name to the settlement below. Archaeological remains of the castle can still be seen, alongside a neoclassical chapel built in 1821.
The hill takes its name from a stone pyramid erected in the late 18th century using material from the demolished castle. The chapel later replaced it. Vineyards cover the southern slopes, where winegrowing was documented as early as 1243. From the summit, there are views of Maribor, the Drava River, Pohorje and the Drava Plain.
The walk from City Park to the top takes around half an hour. The route climbs through vineyards, with options to return by another path or continue towards Mestni Vrh and Kalvarija. The three hills are linked by the approximately five-kilometre Piramida–Kalvarija Nature Trail, exploring local wildlife, plants and the cultural landscape. Piramida brings together medieval heritage, winemaking traditions and outdoor recreation.
