This private garden showcases wetland plants, including species lost from Slovenia's natural marshes.

Tal 2000 Botanical Garden is located in Zgornja Gorica, between Rače and Pragersko, south of Maribor. This privately run garden focuses on aquatic and waterside plants, including rare and threatened species that are increasingly difficult to find in natural wetlands. Its living collections reveal the diversity of plants found in ponds, marshes and wet meadows.

Highlights include white water lilies and water caltrop, as well as two rare aquatic ferns: floating salvinia and four-leaf water clover. A separate collection introduces poisonous plants, such as deadly nightshade, black hellebore and castor bean. Medicinal herbs and a small collection of minerals and rocks add to the displays.

The garden also has a strong educational focus. It hosts nature-study days for school groups, while activities inspired by the story of the knight Parzival introduce children to minerals and fossils. A visit brings together living plant collections, the conservation of threatened species and practical learning about nature.
