Betnava Forest lies on the southern edge of Maribor, in the Tabor area. It is one of the city's larger urban woodlands, where streets and open spaces quickly give way to trees and forest paths. Close to residential neighbourhoods, it is a popular place for walking, running and outdoor recreation, as well as an important green space within the city.
Beside the forest stands Betnava Mansion, whose historic park connects the area's natural and cultural heritage. The park's origins date back to the 16th century. The mansion is currently closed to visitors, but its exterior remains a recognisable feature of Betnava. The nearby Maribor Beekeeping Centre reflects another aspect of the city's local traditions.
Within the forest, Betnava Adventure Park offers climbing courses among the trees, adding a more active option to a visit. The woodland paths also provide a setting for everyday walks. Betnava Forest brings together green surroundings, outdoor activities and the historic mansion, all within Maribor.
