Ponds, floodplain forests and meadows provide habitats for birds, amphibians and dragonflies.

Rački Ribniki – Požeg Nature Park lies on the edge of the Drava Plain near Rače. Covering approximately 484 hectares, it brings together fishponds, the Požeg reservoir, lowland forests and hedgerow meadows. Protected as a landscape park since 1992, parts of the area also belong to the Natura 2000 network. This mixture of water, woodland and open countryside supports a remarkable range of wildlife.

More than 210 bird species, around 50 dragonfly species and 12 amphibian species have been recorded here. Aquatic plants, including water caltrop and floating marshwort, grow around the Rače and Turn Ponds. From open water to floodplain woodland, the different habitats offer opportunities to observe nature throughout the year.

A network of marked nature trails features information boards along the way. The Castle Trail (Grajska pot) can also be explored by bicycle, while the longer Grebe Trail (Ponirkova pot) links Rače Castle with forests and ponds. The mostly level landscape makes the park suitable for leisurely walks centred on birdwatching, aquatic plants and the distinctive scenery of the Drava Plain.
