Lake Pristava, also known as Šiker Pond, lies among the meadows of the Pesnica Valley, south of the village of Močna in the Slovenske gorice hills. Its alternative name comes from the nearby Šiker inn. Originally a fishpond belonging to the Herberstein counts, it was later enlarged to form a reservoir on the Pesnica River. Today it is part of the landscape of man-made lakes around Lenart.
The lake has a long fishing tradition and is known for its large catfish. Fish species recorded here also include carp, pike and zander. Fishing requires a permit and must follow the rules of the Pesnica - Lenart Fishing Association. Views across the water take in meadows and rolling hills, while a path beside the lake offers a chance to explore the setting on foot.
Pristava is also an important stopover and wintering site for migratory birds. Amphibians inhabit the shallows and reedbeds, and white water lilies and the threatened fringed water lily grow along the northern edge. The lake brings together centuries of fish farming, waterside wildlife and the natural heritage of the Pesnica Valley.
