Award-winning artisan and jewelry designer Vesna Plavec creates jewelry from recycled industrial aluminum, a material associated with more than 200 years of industrial tradition in Slovenska Bistrica.
She creates under the brand name Avantgard metalli. Her distinctive personal style combines ancient blacksmithing and goldsmithing techniques, traditional hand tools, and the reuse of an unconventional modern metal.
The Styrian Heart earrings and brooch are her independent creations, while two other products were developed in collaboration with Marijan Crnič, a master of handcrafted stonework.
Local stone – Pohorje slate from Koritno above Oplotnica – and industrial aluminum from Impol in Slovenska Bistrica come together in a beautiful fusion of minimalist design. This collaboration resulted in the contemporary Styrian Heart stand and a versatile decorative tray.
