Gea Oil Mill

Gea Oil Mill in Slovenska Bistrica continues a tradition of vegetable oil production dating back to 1904. That year, Albert Štiger established a small business processing pumpkin seeds into oil. From these beginnings, Gea developed into a modern oil producer, combining traditional knowledge with contemporary processing and production methods.

One of its signature products is Styrian-Prekmurje pumpkin seed oil with protected geographical indication status, recognised for its dark colour and distinctive roasted pumpkin seed aroma and flavour. Alongside pumpkin seed oil, Gea produces and sells sunflower, olive, linseed, rapeseed and other vegetable oils, including organic varieties.

The factory shop on Trg svobode stocks products from the Gea, Zvezda, Cekin and Sončni cvet brands, together with selected foods from other Slovenian producers. The shop provides a connection to Slovenska Bistrica's industrial heritage and to pumpkin seed oil, an important ingredient in the culinary traditions of Slovenian Styria and Prekmurje.
