Event organization
What do you need to do before holding an event?
The organiser is required to notify the police of every public gathering or public event.
Important: In certain cases, where circumstances exist that could endanger the safety or rights of others, you must obtain a permit from the Administrative Unit instead of merely submitting a notification.
Information on the Organiser's obligations
Notification of a public event
The notification must be submitted to the police station, police department, or police office responsible for the area in which the event will take place.
Deadline for submitting the notification: The organiser must notify the competent police station, police department, or police office in the area where the event is being organised at least 5 days before the date of the event.
If a permit is required for the event under the Public Gatherings Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 113/05, official consolidated text, 85/09 and 39/11), the organiser must submit an application to the Administrative Unit in whose area the gathering or event is to take place at least 7 days before the date of the gathering or 10 days before the date of the event, unless otherwise stipulated by a specific law.
For competitive cycling events, road motor sports events, and road events taking place in the territory of two or more administrative units, the organiser must submit the application for a permit to the competent Administrative Unit at least 30 days before the date of the event. If a road event takes place in the territory of two or more administrative units, the organiser must submit the application to the Administrative Unit in whose territory the event will begin.
