What on earth could one possibly do with a net?
If she were a jack-of-all-trades, she’d hang it between the cherry and plum trees and sway gently as she took her afternoon rest.
If she were Christ, she’d catch all the trout from the local fish farm and feed the people.
If she were a fungus, she’d connect with the tree root system and exchange nutrients.
If she were Descartes, she’d pinpoint the coordinates of the pesky fly buzzing above his head.
If she is a courier in the underground struggle for freedom and a better tomorrow, she would have distributed all the most important ‘what-where-who-when’ information.
If she is a performer on the local alternative theatre scene, then on top of all that, she would connect with her colleagues and – organise a festival!
Our times are a mess; they are a time of severed ties. Severed ties with responsibility, reality, values and community.
There’s no other way; we’ll still have to come together. We’ll still have to come together, we’ll still have to make it known that we’re here together, for a reason and for one another. That we are here, and that we will continue to be.
The ZIZ Festival remains a celebration of Maribor’s alternative theatre production; in its eighth edition, it presents seven performances, with the programme accompanied by a workshop, a symposium and social gatherings, and, of course, for the 13th time, it will present awards to deserving recipients at the closing ZIZ Awards Gala.
The ZIZ Festival is also extending its reach across the airwaves – you can follow it by listening to the festival diary on Radio MARŠ.
