Discover the story of the Oldest Vine through the key milestones of the past four decades.

How did a vine more than 450 years old become a renowned tourist icon of Maribor and a symbol that now connects people around the world? The exhibition 400 Years in 40 Years presents its rich story through the key events spanning from the first ceremonial harvest in 1987 to the jubilee 40th harvest in 2026.

Meet the people dedicated to preserving this valuable heritage, discover the tradition of the Maribor Wine Queens and the Malečnik grape harvesters, and explore the story of the Oldest Vine’s wine. The exhibition also traces the transformation of the Lent riverfront and the former Old Vine House into a contemporary meeting place for wine, cuisine, culture and art. It reveals how descendants of the Oldest Vine now grow throughout Slovenia and in numerous countries around the world, carrying Maribor’s story far beyond its borders.

The exhibition will be on display at Oldest Vine Square from Tuesday, 22 September 2026, onwards.
