Winery Frešer

On the wine-growing hills of Ritoznoj near Slovenska Bistrica, Vinotoč Frešer continues a family winemaking tradition dating back to 1832. Today, the estate is run by Matjaž and Andreja Frešer, representing the seventh generation of the family. The wine collection named Markus pays tribute to an ancestor who helped establish the family's winemaking heritage.

Organic viticulture is central to the estate. The vineyards have been cultivated without pesticides or herbicides since 2011, and all grapes are harvested by hand. Warm days and cool night air from the Pohorje mountains shape the wines' character. The selection includes Riesling, Welschriesling, Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, alongside other varieties and special wine collections.

The estate offers guided tours and wine tastings, introducing the family's wines, production methods and history. Tastings can be accompanied by homemade local food, with views across the Ritoznoj vineyards. Private group events and the Wine Frešer Music festival also bring together wine, music and Slovenian cuisine.
