On the hills of Šober above Kamnica, where Kozjak meets the Slovenske gorice, lies the family wine estate Vino Hlade. Three generations of the Hlade family live and work here, with winemaker Urban Hlade bringing new expertise to the family tradition. A century-old linden tree stands beside the farm, overlooking Maribor, Pohorje and the hill of St Urban.
The family's vineyards occupy two distinct sites, Šober and Kozjak, shaped by different elevations, soils and microclimates. The vineyards have followed integrated grape production practices since 2002. Wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Welschriesling and Yellow Muscat, alongside skin-contact and aged white wines. All the estate's sparkling wines are made using the traditional bottle-fermentation method. Its Blanc de Blancs carries the regional Naše najboljše (Our Finest) quality certificate.
Guided tastings led by the estate's oenologist introduce the wines and their origins. Some experiences include visits to the vineyard sites, with local salami, cheese and other snacks accompanying the tasting. Visits are arranged in advance, offering an insight into family winemaking in the hills above Maribor.
