Taste wines from the Podravje region in a 1555 riverside tower, with guided group tastings.

On Maribor’s historic Lent riverfront, Vinoteka Maribor – Vodni stolp occupies a Renaissance defence tower built in 1555 as part of the city walls. The tower has housed a wine shop since 1989. Its stone interior and riverside terrace connect the city's winemaking culture with the history of the former Drava river port.

The wine selection focuses on Slovenia’s Podravje wine region, with around 180 labels from approximately 45 winemakers associated with the Maribor Winegrowers' Cooperative. Wines are served by the glass or bottle, accompanied by snacks from local producers. Wine adviser Dušan Kelbič has managed the wine shop since 2009, sharing knowledge of the region and its producers.

The tower hosts guided tastings for private groups and seasonal wine and food events. Small concerts, exhibitions and talks also take place here, while the venue becomes part of the riverside programme during Festival Lent. Its setting makes it a place to explore regional wine inside one of Maribor's historic landmarks.
