The Centre of Traditional Arts and Crafts, Craft Cooperative in Slovenska Bistrica preserves pottery and ceramic traditions while supporting contemporary craftsmanship. Established in 2003, it has operated as a social enterprise since 2014. Its Pristava ceramics studio and exhibition space are located on Grajska Street, near Slovenska Bistrica Castle.
The centre specialises in handmade pottery produced using traditional techniques. Its From Grandma’s Kitchen and Grandpa’s Cellar programme reinterprets everyday ceramic vessels of the past, including bowls, jugs and traditional potica baking moulds. The range also includes contemporary decorative and functional ceramics. Selected pieces carry the regional Naše najboljše quality label.
Pottery and ceramics workshops, courses and exhibitions introduce traditional skills alongside the work of contemporary makers. The studio offers a glimpse of how clay is shaped into objects for everyday use. As a member of the Consortium of Slovenian Craft Centres, the cooperative also helps pass craft knowledge on to new generations.
