Jelkina špajza is a shop specialising in local food and produce in Kamnica near Maribor, part of the family-run Mrak Garden Centre. The nursery traces its history to 1950, while the shop opened in 2022. Some vegetables are grown on site, with the rest of the range supplied by neighbouring farms and small producers.
The shop stocks seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs, dairy products, cured meats, bread, honey and homemade jams. Pumpkin seed oil and other edible oils, herbs, spices and natural cosmetics add to the selection. Working with more than 30 local suppliers, it brings together products and flavours from the wider Maribor area.
A distinctive feature is the combination of a food shop and a working nursery, which also sells vegetable seedlings, herbs and ornamental plants. The shop was expanded in 2024, with additional refrigerated displays for fresh produce. Jelkina špajza connects three generations of gardening tradition with direct access to goods from nearby producers.
