Kozjak trail

Over the wine-growing hills to Urban, Gaj and Tojzlov Vrh

Kozjak Trail - from Maribor to Dravograd

Did you know that the oldest linden in the Drava region and the second largest linden in Slovenia (with a girth of an incredible 894 centimetres) can be found on Kozjak?

The trail over Kozjak will lead you through vineyards and orchards, through woodland and a plantation of ancient chestnut trees, across fields and meadows, past lonely farms, and across the yards of farmhouses and farm tourism establishments, where the owners will be happy to serve up local specialities.

En route you will conquer several peaks, including Sveti Urban, Tojzlov Vrh, Žavcarjev Vrh and Sršenov Vrh, from where you can enjoy a view over Pohorje, the Drava Valley and Kozjak.

Just before the end of the trail, stop to enjoy the view at Trije Križi (Three Crosses): to the east is Ojstrica; to the west the view stretches all the way to the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, past Strojna to the Saualpe in Austrian Carinthia.

Kozjak trail is divided into stages. First stage the route Maribor - Urban - Tojzlov vrh - Bresternica.
