Panoramic Cycling Route between Areh and Bolfenk

The panoramic cycling route between Areh and Bolfenk on Maribor’s Pohorje is a scenic and easy circular trail, ideal for recreational cyclists and families with older children. The route connects two popular excursion points – Bolfenk and Areh – and offers stunning views of the Pohorje forests and the Drava Valley.

Basic Information

• Length: 26.4 km
• Elevation gain: approx. 750 m
• Surface: mix of asphalt and gravel roads
• Difficulty: easy
• Markings: number 7 and light blue color

The route starts either at the upper station of the Pohorje cable car at Bolfenk (1042 m) or at Areh (1246 m) and follows the ridge of Pohorje. Along the way, you’ll ride through forest paths, past ski slopes and viewpoints such as the Maribor Observation Tower, and landmarks like St. Bolfenk’s Church and the Ruška Lodge. The trail is also suitable for e-bikes.
