Ljudski vrt is more than just a sports venue. It represents a living history intertwined with the identity of our city. The iconic grandstand with its arch, which has become a symbol of the stadium, was built a decade later. In recent decades, the stadium has undergone several extensive renovations, transforming it into a modern European stadium with over 11,600 seats.

As the second home of NK Maribor fans and the Viole fan group, it has left an indelible mark on the club and Slovenian football. The western stand bears the name of the legendary Marcos Tavares, who, through his achievements, became a club legend and a role model for young generations.

Ljudski vrt has also been the scene of numerous historical moments that have shaped Slovenian football. The victory of the Slovenian national team over Russia in 2010, when Zlatko Dedić's goal opened the door to the World Cup, is just one of many unforgettable events.
