Ana Protner, Maribor Queen of Wine 2018-2020
The 11th Maribor Wine Queen is a 21-year-old student at the College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor, Ana. She comes from a renowned viticulture family, under the Hiša Joannes Protner brand that is famous mostly for their Rhein Riesling.
Ana enjoys combining wine and cuisine and exploring the wine-growing regions. She cannot imagine her life without vine, wine and nature. For her wine she selected the Rhein Riesling from the city hill Piramida, which she proudly presented at the international wine fair in Hong Kong.
This wine was bottled exactly one year after the harvest, meaning it matured in large oak barrels for 10 months. The bottles have a special label in purple shades of the wine queen dress, designed by the young fashion designer, David Hojnik.
