A nostalgic evening with the Big Band of the Slovenian Armed Forces, conducted by Rudolf Strnad, featuring Nuška Drašček, Raiven, Veronika Strnad, Gregor Ravnik, Rudolf Gas, and special guests Tomaž Domicelj and Alfi Nipič!

Slovenian chanson has a long and noble tradition. It was first honored with its own festival back in 1962 in Bled. The popularity of this genre is evidenced by the fact that the jury had to choose from as many as 132 submitted songs. Moreover, the esteem in which it was held is reflected in the fact that the selection of singers deemed sufficiently qualified for performance was so limited that some had to perform multiple times – Marjana Deržaj even five times!

The high esteem of Slovenian chanson was undoubtedly contributed to by the fact that its lyrics were written by the most respected Slovenian poets, including Janez Menart and Ciril Zlobec, and its music by excellent composers such as Bojan Adamič, Jože Privšek, and Mojmir Sepe. It's no wonder, then, that the songs usually became hits. "When we go home, we whistle or hum the new tunes in our memory," enthused the Weekly Tribune after the first festival.
