It is almost impossible to describe in one word what lies behind the Bosnian concept of sevdah. Perhaps the word longing describes it best. But sevdah is not just that. It is also love, hopeless, eternal love, and it is also desire, which cools and burns the lover at the same time. It is simply a way of life, a narrative about it and about people, and about the world that surrounds it.

Amira was born in Sarajevo, at a time when the popularity of traditional music in the former common country was at its peak. Sevdah occupied a special place in her life. Sevdalinke (songs) she learned from her mother were the most beautiful songs in the world. Fascination with this musical tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina led her so far that she completely surrendered to it and within sevdalinka created a unique voice, with which she thoroughly explored their expressive potential.
